Welcome to our family:

My name is Jennifer and I began homeschooling my daughter when she was in the 2nd grade. She thrived during COVID when we were home together, but when she returned to school, she spent more time walking in the hallway (to calm down) than in her classroom learning.

“Experts” talk about socialization, but my daughter was alienating herself because she didn’t know how to handle her emotions in a public setting and the support was not available. I started homeschooling my son the following year after a teachers aid assaulted him in the public school special education preschool program. At the time my son was completely nonverbal and my daughter was only minimally verbal.

Since beginning homeschooling – my daughter is now in the 4th grade and my son is in Kindergarten. Both are verbal and we are working through obstacles and learning how each kid learns best and tailoring our curriculum to their needs. This year we are going to be using this platform to document our journey. We will share our successes and failures and hope you are ready to come along this journey with us.
